RENEWAL

I'm going to push myself to do another assignment. As usual, if you're interested in joining me, the deadline is a week from Wednesday. So if you decide to join me, send me the link to your story in email on Wednesday and I will put all the links on this blog so that people can read, share, and possibly critique one another. If you want to see how it works, then check out Seduction, a previous assignment.

March's assignment? Spring is here. It's a time of renewal. And that's the theme. RENEWAL. It can be any genre, it can even be a poem. If you are an artist, then it can be a sketch, or a photograph.

Each assignment has a purpose. In the past assignments have been crafted to develop character, point-of-view, and setting.

For RENEWAL..just make an emotional statement. Have something to say. Reach into the creative pool and bring forth something inspired or something to inspire. And do it all with a limit of one thousand words.

well hell I MISSED the easy one. *grin* Hmmm--my time is limited this week due to crazy 'Grateful Dead-esque" trip to Atlanta and Birmingham to see Taylor Hicks. I'll see if I can prize something out. I do have five hours of wait in the lovely Atlanta airport.

and thanks SOOOOOOOOOO much for your comment on Perverse Reverse

Oooh, I may have to scrape a few brain cells and creative sparks out of some dusty corners for Renewal.

Sweeeeet topic, Stewart!

Hope all is well in your world.

It is ON like DonkeyKong! Have been waiting for this with pen poised and a glass of chardy at the ready. See you in the Spring!

One of the ways in which I am perverse is that as soon as I am required (by myself, even) to write on a specific topic, my brain freezes over.

But I would love to participate, so I'll see if I can find that anti-freeze.

And I will enjoy reading the others in any case.

Wayne is right, Stewart, you do use mind control on folks. I for one would love to know your seceret. ;-)
I don't know about this assignment, you know, since you didn't even give mine a shot....supposedly you were too busy and so on, well...Ah hell, I'll give it a whirl, see what happens. It truly is an interesting topic. Thanks. Later.

A week from Wednesday? A Wordless Wednesday post perhaps. Hmmmmm.

Fruity Fun? Wow, things getting a bit hot over there on SQT's site - complete with aspersions cast towards our very dear Master Sternberg! Hope you're OK, Banana Man!

Turnbaby, the easy one, eh? Don't feel any pressure here. The assignments were started for The Bay Area group, and just became something on the blog. Mostly geared toward developing craft.

Lori, you were the person I was thinking of when I came up with this one, specifically when I opened it up for sketches and drawings.

Donkey, I promise you that was friendly debate on SQT's site, you should see me when I get ugly. I look forward to seeing what you come up with for this, pal. I will post a reminder or two before the deadline since this one is so far in advance.

hearts...your pen name here is pefect considering this is more about the emotions than about the intellect.

Lucas, notice how long it's been since I posted an assignment? I almost decided to skip this one. Each assignment concentrates on one aspect of writing. And I still have no time, and will have no time until after the next two weeks.

I liked your posting Travis, that western thing really clicked with me. I'm not much for doing the weekly blog things. Manic Monday. Tuesday's Tunes. Wordless Wednesday. Tongue-in-cheek Thursday. Fun Friday, Etc. Although writing this, I like the idea of a Tongue-in-Cheek Thursday. That might be fun.

Donkey

Stewart is being very polite on my site. I had to walk so I would stop throwing out insults at someone.

Anyway...

I like the theme of this one Stewart. I'm definitely going to think of something.

Sounds like fun. I want to do this, but we'll see.

Hope all is well.

I don't write good but can tell you your religion is entirely wrong, wrong, WRONG!. Forks and spoons are only related by descendence from sporks, who populated the earth and built the pyramids during the sheet metal age.

I am looking forward to some interesting reading then! I've been reading your posts and am enjoying your writing.

If I didn't feel like Demeter in the midst of winter, I might be able to come up with something. As it is... not so sure.

Sternberg, that damn well can't be you in the artists rendition, in the name of all that is holy. renewal: growing a new Wayne from a nail clipping...

etain looking forward to anything you might have to contribute....

Thank you SQT. I look forward to seeing what you come up with. I'm looking forward to this myself. I want to write something wistful and uplifting, step away from my usual dark and twisted.

Christina, I know you have a busy schedule. It's not biggie. I don't ever want people to feel any sense of pressure around these.

Cappy, you're a heretic. And don't get me started on my theory of tine travel. Or maybe I should take a stab at it.

Thanks Lisa, that means a good deal to me. I sometimes struggle on this blog trying to find direction and balance. I was going to just post writing at first, but then decided to go the path of a journal experience with snippets of writing as well as personal experience and opinion.

Watercolors? Jon, Isn't it enough I mentioned poetry?

Kate, same to you as to Christina, no pressure here. I know you've got a full schedule, too.

Wayne, you cad. People are hornswoggled and bamboozled by you. They see that chin and that bald pate and think: AHA, FOLLICLES. But I know better. I think: Dimension Adjustment Disorder. Remember, there are no right angles.

That definitely sounds like a doable challenge - renewal. Can't wait.

Hi Stewart! I know, I am sooooo far behind and out of touch - I have been working for a new hair product line and writing all the brochures, traveling, researching, etc, developing and heading the education program . . . so on top of a full-time job and mothering teenagers and young adults (and one live-in grandson) - well, I AM SPENT! I simply DO NOT KNOW how to do it all!
I love this new assignment - I NEED RENEWAL! When is our next meeting? I am sorry I am so off.
I hope you are well - I MISS YOU ALL! Lindy

"It is ON like DonkeyKong"
We use that phrase too much in our house and our son just looks at us strangely.

Good assignment....lets see if I have any brain cells.

Going to make my mom do it too..she is a great writer, just shy.

Stewart Sternberg said...

Jay, looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Pythia, tomorrow night is our next meeting. Maybe we'll see you there.

Crunchy...bring it.

I think that perhaps this might actually be a fairly well received assignment. I tell you, I am always amazed at what prompts people to do one and then not another. I think it is more a matter of timing than anything else.

Looking forward to it.

I think there's a strong desire for Spring to come right now, which fits in well with the renewal theme.

Hey Stewart,

I wrote something and tried to find your e-mail address, but your blog is out of justification (with regard to the template, not content) on two different computers and I can't find it.

Anyway, I'm a bit early for Wednesday, but you're welcome to check it out if you like.

Well it's Autumn (Fall) here in Australia. What's the opposite of "renewal"? Decay?

Stewart Sternberg said...

A writer? Me? I don't know about that Sueann. Thanks for the compliment.

And Man At The Pub...I wouldn't say renewal has an opposite..I prefer to look at it all as part of a cycle.
